On October the 1st, dell’Immacolata square in San Lorenzo quarter in Roma is going to host a unique event: the San Lorenzo streets peace parade and “Tessere Pace”.
“Tessere Pace” is the Italian for “to weave peace“: an event created in order to promote integration and peaceful coexistence in a united city.
At 5 p.m., the parade will take place through San Lorenzo quarter streets. During the parade, about 50 characters are going to show the participants their own cloth. Then, in the evening, around 9 p.m., the actors will start weaving their cloths, creating “Tessere Pace” (to weave peace) living loom.

On Sunday, October 12th, Rome will be waiting for the Pope to open the feast day for the Canonization of Blessed people, the final step in the canonization of Saints: the religious ceremony will start at 10 am in Piazza S.Pietro.
In Roman Catholic Church, this ceremony of Canonization represents the official declaration, stated by the Pope, through which a dead person becomes a saint: he or she is also allowed to be worshipped by the faithfuls due to this new status of holiness.
On the 12th of October, Pope Benedict XVI will declare saint the following people:
- Gaetano Errico
- Maria Bernarda Bütler
- Alfonsa dell’Immacolata Concezione (Anna Muttathupadathu)
- Narcisa di Gesù Martillo Morán
This touching ceremony represents the perfect opportunity to visit the magnificent St. Peter’s Basilica, where you can see the splendid cupola made by Michelangelo, but also the whole Vatican City, which is nowadays one the most favourite destinations for tourists and pilgrims, looking for great pieces of art and spiritual relief.

Castel Sant’Angelo, also known as Mausoleum of Hadrian, is directly linked to St. Peter’s Basilica through Passetto di Borgo, a covered and fortified path. It was originally built to be a mausoleum for the Emperor Hadrian and his family, but later on it became a fortress and obtained its new name, Castel Sant’Angelo, because of a statue representing the archangel Michael, which stands on top of the building.

On 2008 September 11 Rome is going to celebrate New york Twin Towers victims with a concert.
The Company for the Music in Rome is organising The September Concert 2008, a one-day-event full of concerts which are going to take place in several places of the Italian Capital.
Music is an international and no-frontiers language understandable by anyone and just music has been chosen as the medium to remember Twin Towers victims, in order to reduce the distance between cultures and men all over the world.
A lot of artists born in many countries of the world are going to perform during the September Concert 2008, which is going to start the 11th of September at 1 p.m. into the “Roma in Trastevere” museum. Then, the day is going to end with the last concert of the Semptember Orchestra, that is going to start at 8,30 p.m. into the Auditorium.

The European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) is proud to welcome you to the 44th annual meeting which is going to take place in Rome, 7-11 September 2008.
