Until January 6 the “Palazzo delle Esposizioni“ in Rome is going to host the exhibition “Etruscans. The Ancient Cities of Lazio”, organized in conjunction with the Regional Authority’s Culture.
This cultural event in Rome tells the story of the development of the main cities of Etruscan civilization (Cerveteri, Tarquinia, Vulci and Veio), that initially had a lot of common roots, but subsequently grew up in different ways regarding art and life style.
Veio is remembered as the city of the manufacture of terracotta and Vulci is represented by monumental sculpture in local stone. Cerveteri is celebrated for its splendid tomb architecture, whereas Tarquinia has more than 100 frescoed tombs.
The exhibition highlights the influence of Etruscan civilization on some religious and social rituals that will be recovered by Roman society, analysing also continuity and differences between the two cultures. A lot of works of art from Etruscan localities are on public display for the first time.
The exhibition is opened from Tuesday to Thursday from
10 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10,30 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
