Easter 2009 in Rome

This year the Easter Sunday will be on 12 april 2009. Rome is going to celebrate this religious event with a ritch calendar starting with the Palm Sunday.
The Holy Week is going to start april the 5th in Piazza San Pietro, at 09:30 a.m. with the Palm blessing, following by a procession and the Holy Mass celebrate by Pope Benedetto XVI. April the 9th, the Holy Thursday, at 5.30 p.m., in San Giovanni in Laterano, is going to be celebrate the “ Santa messa nella cena del signore“. April the 10th, the Holy Friday, at 09.15 p.m., in Colosseum is going to start ” La Via Crucis “. During this procession the Pope will carry the cross from Colosseum to Palatino hill: this atmosphere will be very suggestive. April the 11th at 09:00 p.m. is going to be “Veglia Pasquale nella notte santa” in Basilica Vaticana. On the easter day at 10.30 a.m. in Piazza San Pietro is going to celebrate by Pope the “Santa Messa del giorno” following by the “Urbi et Orbi” blessing.
