Until September 5th 2010 the Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Venezia in Rome is hosting the exhibition “La forma del Rinascimento. Donatello, Andrea Bregno, Michelangelo e la scultura a Roma nel Quattrocento”.
Promoted by a Scientific Committee of the many renowned art experts from all over the world, the exhibition will let you discover the sculpture of the Fifteenth century, in the age of the Humanist Popes, from Pius II Piccolomini to Leo X Medici.
The exhibition presents the sculptures of Donatello, Andrea Bregno and Michelangelo, three of the main artists of the time. Their artworks show at best the artistic culture of the Early Renaissance, period of great creative and intellectual activity.
The masterpiece of the exposition is the Aeolus by Michelangelo, a marble haut-relief never shown before in an exhibition. Other admirable sculptures are those of Donatello: the Formella with the musician angels, the gypsum model of the same bronze sculpture shown in the Saint Anthony Basilica in Padua, and the marvelous Protome, a horse-head statue.
Why not take advantage, therefore, of the exposure to rediscover the Renaissance beauties of the capital?
