Until September 5th Tiberina Island, in the heart of Rome, will become the Island of Cinema. Now in its sixteenth edition, the movie event of the Roman summer will offer previews, events, retrospectives, exhibitions, and debates on cinema.
This year’s edition is in the name of Italian cinema, to celebrate the forthcoming 150th anniversary of Italy’s national unification, with ad hoc two sections: Cantiere Italia and Nuovo Cinema Italiano. The first cycle of events is dedicated to the most successful Italian directors, including Giovanni Veronesi, Ferzan Ozpetek, Gabriele Muccino, who will attend the screenings of their films. The Nuovo Cinema Italiano section, however, seeks to promote the debut of new filmmakers such as Valerio Mieli, Isabella Ragonese, Michele Riondino.
In addition to film screenings (tickets between 5 and 7 euros), you can also follow a series of seminars, workshops and lectures taught by industry professionals to tell how does an audiovisual work and to get people involved into the world of cinema.
If you love cinema and want to participate in one of many special nights of the festival, book now your room in Rome at one of the fantastic Groupe Valadier Hotel in the heart of the city.
