Until April 5 “Chiostro del Bramante” in Rome is going to host the exhibition “Julius Caesar: the Myth, the Man and his military feats”.

The exhibition analizes the figure of the Roman dictator, as the different point of view of political leader, writer and military general, considering also his private life. In the story art, literature, theatre and recently cinema have celebrate the myth of Caesar; his family claimed descent from Iulus, son of the Troian prince Aeneas.

The exhibition is composed by more than 200 pieces, as archaeological remains, 100 paintings, some reconstructions of enviroments in ancient Rome and some videos about Caesar’s life. The historical and social context and his relation with Cleopatra have an important space in the collection.

The exhibition is opened from Tuesdays to Fridays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.( full entrance 10 €).

Until February 5 Colosseum in Rome is going to host the exhibition “Ruins and rebirths of art in Italy”.

The exhibition highlights the theme of the protection of artistic and cultural heritage in Italy, analysing the progress and the conquests in the last century.

The one hundredth anniversary of the first Italian law concerning the safeguarding of cultural properties (1909-2009) is the occasion for remembering this theme. The idea of art as a common patrimony begins in 19th century, but already in Middle Age there was an attention on the catalog and the census of artistic works.

The six sections of the exhibition host 60 artworks. Among the whole collection, we cite the lion of Val Vidone, saved by voluntaries after the flood in Florence in 1966, and Venus of Cyrene, recently returned to Libia.

The exhibition is opened from Mondays to Sundays from 8,30 a.m. to 4,30 p.m; the full entrance is 11 € and permicts also the access to the area of Palatino and roman Fore.

Until November 23 the Capitoline Museums in Palazzo Caffarelli in Rome are going to host the exhibition “L’invenzione dei Fori Imperiali. Demolizioni e scavi: 1924 - 1940” , organized by Superintendency of Fine Arts and City of Rome.

This artistic event in Rome is composed by 140 works (photographs, paintings, frescos and sculptures) by different autors (as Michele Cascella, Maria Barosso and Lucia Hoffmann) that focus on the demolition and excavations in the area of Imperial Fora between 1920 and 1940. The reflection of these artists on the upsetting in urban landscape, combining nostalgia and celebration of a new Rome, is the occasion to relive the social and cultural context of those years.

It is also possibile to admire 30 Roman relics and 5 fragments from the 17th, discovered after the demolitions of some palaces in the area of Imperial Fora.

The exhibition is opened from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. (full ticket 4,50 €).
